TGIF

A late Friday post today. Mama had lots of wonderful babysitters today (thank you Auntie, Dad and Meliss! :) and I got to spend some time sleeping (amazingggg!), getting in on the Christmas cup action at Starbucks with Quiddie, catching up with Meliss and of course, some speed shopping at Target!
Meliss and I in our "it's finally fall weather" outfits today. So lovin' this weather!
Can't leave ya'll without a Cole shot for the weekend. Here's one Auntie Meliss took this afternoon~she always captures Cole's best expressions!

Decades Gone

I am going to be 33 this year and I was thinking the other day just how rad my 30s have been. I know I'm only a couple of steps into the decade, but I really do feel like it's going to be the best decade of my life...so far at least :).

In my 20s I was lost. Looking back now I realize just how chaotic I was back then. Mostly on the inside because a perfectionist like me would never *gasp let anyone know on the outside! I graduated college, had no idea whatsoever what I was doing with my life, didn't have a plan, was struggling with an eating disorder that had blown out of control but was a "secret" to everyone...I was depressed but fighting acknowledging any of it.

Man, I look back on those days and I think now-why didn't you just ask for help...tell someone what was going on...try and do things that scared me?!? I wouldn't change what I went through, because it brought me closer to God and to a deeper understanding of his unending grace, BUT I would have changed the process for myself some. Had I done some things differently I really think I might have enjoyed my 20s a little more.
So here I am at 30dom and God has given me another shot-at loving, giving, being and just LIVING. I am thankful for it all-my husband, my son, our family, our life. This month is Thanksgiving and I'd like to challenge you to be grateful. I'm thinking of something every day in November that I'm thankful for and wouldn't you know that just thinking something somehow makes your entire perspective change for that day? It's pretty darn awesome :)

God Bless You. Seriously. I hope He blesses the socks off of you and that you LET HIM do it. Oh, and that Louise May Alcott quote above? I'd like to add to it-I'm not afraid of storms now because I really do trust in a great and awesome God who has promised me perfect peace if I abide in Him. Pretty awesome right? Yea, God's that kind of "pretty awesome" all the time.

Happy November all. Now go forth and be thankful!

Mobbed on a Sunday

Last Sunday, as you know, we took Cole to church for the first time. It was great to introduce him to his church family and Blane and I got to see a lot of our youth that we haven't seen in awhile. Some mob action might have ensued :)
In the cry room after second service got out. Blane couldn't get out of the room because our high schoolers came by right after they got out of Sunday School. Love these kids.
You hear it all the time but it's so true-when you take the time to invest in other people, you are usually the one who gets blessed in the process. Blane and I are blessed to have an amazing church family. Everyone was so excited to meet our little guy because, in a way, he's their little guy too :).

Cole did great that day, by the way. He slept some, woke up to stare at all the inquiring eyes a bit, and was overall just quiet, taking it all in.

Have a great Wednesday all~everybody grab their first red Starbucks cup of the season yet?!? Quiddie-we need to go!!! ;)

Get Your Vote On

I hope you are all voting today! There's a big presidential race going on but there are also tons of propositions that will affect Los Angeles County-some immediate-that are important to vote on too.

I love having the honor of voting. Can't wait to get my "I Voted" sticker today!

Dapper Monday

Why hello there friends! Ready to start another week?
We had a jam-packed but good weekend. Saturday both B and I got haircuts and then Cole had him some Daddy time while I had me some Mommy time with my own Mom. It was wonderful :)

Sunday we were mobbed at church by everyone who wanted to meet Cole. The outpouring of love and support we have there is amazing. Then is was off to celebrate my dear Dad's birthday with a family photo shoot in the park followed by lunch. Words cannot describe the blessing of living close to your family. It just rocks. :)

The three of us passed out last night! It was a full day, but a great day. I love fall weekends with the ones I love.

Have a great week everyone! Our great God goes with you, each one.
Dapper day eh?

Two Months

Yesterday was Cole's two month check up. He got three shots in his leg and an oral vaccine too. The little guy did great though and he didn't even cry that much. Daddy was another story... ;)
Holding Daddy's hand while waiting for his shots.
 Battle scars.
It was a tougher go for him afterwards and for the rest of the day as I think he was feeling a little bit of the effects of the shots. He slept more throughout the day, wasn't interested in eating much, and was a tad bit on the fussy side. All-in-all though, he was a trooper and we are thankful that he didn't have any more severe negative reactions.

Have a wonderful weekend all! We are taking Cole to church for the first time on Sunday. Can't wait for him to meet his extended church family!

Mad love,
