A New Era

This morning was the first Sunday back at church where my sister's praise team was back up after my sister moved up north. My BFF Pap is also on the team and in J's absence, she has stepped up to lead the team.

Speaking in public is not Pap's favorite thing to do, nor does it come naturally to her. This poses something of a problem when you're leading praise because you're always speaking in front of the congregation and leading everyone in worship. This morning I thought of Pap as I was driving to church because of her concern about just this. When it came time for praise, however, Pap hit it out of the ballpark! With the spirit of Christ surrounding her, she preached to the masses and she really did an amazing job ushering us all into the presence of our God. 

Excuse the poor quality, but here's a quick iPhone shot of Pap (first mike on the left) leading with her team this morning. She spoke today about the freedom we have in Christ and about how if you've asked Jesus into your heart, then you are free from the chains of sin because they've been broken by our God for us! I couldn't have said it better myself :)

Pap, I am encouraged by how you have stepped out in faith in leading this team and our church in worship. You have demonstrated to me that "where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom!"

I miss my Mom. She's away visiting family for a few weeks and while I'm glad she's gotten the chance to go,  I realized today that I miss her here too.

Big Fun

Happy post-4th of July everyone! B and I had a great weekend visiting my sister and her hubby. We carpooled with our friends Big Fun and Bear, who were also visiting my sis and some of their other friends too.
Let the recaps begin!

The trip started off with a bang on Friday afternoon...

Can you see the temp on the upper right hand side of the screen? And this was at 8:30 in the evening!!! Apparently it was just a glimpse of the weather to come...one of the hottest weekends of the year to date!

My incredible homemaker sister had these waiting for us when we got there...homemade yummy best-chocolate-chip-cookies-ever! Mmmmm....

Big Fun and Bear stayed with their family friends, while B and I stayed with Bub and her Hub. Haha

Every morning I woke up to this:

The lattes this guy whipped up every morning were I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E. Blane and I enjoyed them quite a bunch :)

*Sidenote: He's humoring me here because I wanted us to take a "milk mustache" picture. The things we do for love :)

We had fun cooking and eating throughout the weekend also. Here's a sampling:

And of course, there were games and fun times. Duh.

Sometimes there's nothing like being silly with the ones you love most :)

I just realized that the common thread in these "silly" pics is me. Ahaha. I'm 30 people, and this is the real me. Watch out world! ;)
